Sophie Barker

Hi! I’m Sophie Barker and I am 16. This is my first year on the high performance U18 team and I am super excited about this opportunity!

I recently competed my first training level competition at the end of summer 2020 on my current horse Stormin’ Norman or “Norman”. I have been riding for about 8 years and joined the eventing community 4 years ago. Norman has taken me up the levels and really showed me all the ropes to eventing! He’s a big Warmblood with the most goofy personality, and loves his job especially when we get to go out onto cross country. Norman and I also love stepping into the show jumping ring once in a while and have been successful at the 1.10m level with goals to be moving up this summer.

A long term goal I have for myself is to be able to represent Alberta in the North American Youth Team challenge. I know that everything I will learn through the U18 team will work to help me achieve that goal!
