Jessica Kerschbaumer

My name is Jessica Kerschbaumer and I have been riding for most of my life, and eventing for over 15 years. My current horse is Like A Girl, an 2009 OTTB mare also known as “Twiggy”.  We have competed three full seasons of prelim, and after a quiet 2020 and 2021, we have plans to get a couple trainings under our belt this summer and move back up to prelim this year. I have previously competed up through the CCI2* and intermediate levels with my previous horse, who was also another OTTB that I brought along myself.

I currently work at Klondike Victory Farm, a large show jumping and breeding facility near Sylvan Lake, Alberta. I have worked with all of the young horses from halter breaking, to lightly starting 2 year olds, backing the 3 year olds and bringing the 4 year olds into full work introducing basic dressage and teaching them to jump. I also have a small but dedicated bunch of eventing students. My teaching style focuses on strong basics, effective rider position, and tailoring my coaching to what each horse and rider pair needs in a gradual and progressive way. I absolutely love sharing my knowledge in a constructive, honest, confidence boosting, and positive way.

My long term goals include continuing my equestrian education in any way I can, helping grow the sport of Eventing in Alberta at the grassroots level, and working to move up the levels in Eventing. I hope to one day compete at the 5 star level and represent Canada on an international stage.

I am very excited to be a part of the High Performance team again for my 9th consecutive year. I feel like the sport of Eventing as well as our caliber of riders is consistently improving in Alberta and I am extremely grateful to the Alberta Horse Trials Association as well as the High Performance team for supporting us and providing us with these opportunities!

I have been a certified Equine Canada English Competition Coach since 2005, and in the future I plan to pursue my Eventing Competition Coach Specialist certification.
